Many people we help are not sure which software they used years ago. That is normal. A few clues usually settle it:
- A file called wallet.dat points to Bitcoin Core, Litecoin Core or Dogecoin Core.
- A browser extension with a fox icon is MetaMask.
- A login with a wallet ID usually means Blockchain.com.
- A JSON file from 2014 named like ethereum_wallet_backup is often an Ethereum presale wallet.
- A small USB device with buttons is a hardware wallet such as Ledger or Trezor.
